FRAGMENTS AND SHARDS   chart

Crystal fragments and shards can be used to travel around Eaxia.  The can both be purchased at The Mystic Strobe in Southeast town square, shards for 5000 gold and fragments for 250,000 gold.

FRAGMENTS

Fragments, or frags, can take the user to any of several predetermined locations, often called frag points.  There is a frag point in every town, and a few in other frequently visited spots.  Using a frag requires skill in using magical devices, some locations being easier to reach than others.  To use a fragment, first tune it to the location you want.  If you wish to go to Semanri, for example, TUNE FRAG TO SEMANRI.  When the frag is successfully tuned (it will change color), simply tap it to travel to your desired destination.  Attempting to tune a frag without sufficient skill can cause it to shatter.  This can happen if you do it even once, so you may wish to practice by tuning to Semanri, Cal'Ziz and D'Mare Fin (the easiest locations) before trying more difficult points. (see chart below.  min = the minimum number of Use Magic Devices ranks you must have in order to safely attempt to tune to that location.)

SHARDS

Unlike fragments, shards can be used with no magic devices skill, but you will need gems with which to tune them.  To tune a shard, hold it in your left hand and the appropriate gem in your right, and apply the gem (e.g APPLY TOPAZ).  The shard will absorb the gem and change color.  Tap the shard to travel to your desired destination.  Shards generally remain colored for more than one use.  You can conserve gems by keeping a shard for each location you frequent and only adding gems when the shard fades.  They may fade at any time, however (occasionally they will fade on the first attempt to use them) so it is a good idea to keep some extra gems with you.

Below is a list of places you can go using fragments and shards.  Frag points are in bold.
min = the minimum Use Magic Device ranks required to attempt tuning a frag without risk of breaking.
